Dear Fellow Texans,

It’s time for Washington to learn the first lesson in Texas economics: Don’t spend more than you make!
This may not be a revelation to those of us in this great state, but it appears that Washington did as well in Economics 101 as they did in their attempts to fix our health care system.
Texans know the importance of fiscal responsibility and how to live within our means, and I’m proud that our state constitution reflects these principles by requiring the legislature to pass a balanced budget each session. This valuable tool allows us to keep the size of our state government in check and our economy stable and job friendly!
With the recent events in Washington, I believe it’s time for us to send a
clear message:
Follow our lead and pass a constitutional amendment
requiring a balanced federal budget!
That’s why this past session I co-authored a resolution calling on Congress to do just that—pass a constitutional amendment and stop the out-of-control spending.
Washington’s spending habits have left our nation’s economic future in jeopardy. Please join me in demanding that Congress pass this critical amendment.
Please click here to read and sign my petition. I will personally deliver it to members of Congress.
Let’s stand together as Texans and demand that Washington follow our lead!
Sincerely

Jim Keffer
Texas State Representative
